Harvest Time

We are in the autumn season of the year- a time of harvest. All that has been carefully planted is now ready to be gathered in; the fields will be prepared for the next season of bearing fruit.
I have been thinking about the fact that I am in the season of reaping in my life. The time of sowing has swiftly passed me by, and now I "reap what I have sowed".
The wonderful discovery is, that the harvest is bountiful, beyond any expectationI ever had; the fruits produced are lovely to behold.
This is pure GRACE.
For you young parents, who are in the season of planting and sowing in the lives of your young families, your church, your communities, I want to leave these few thoughts to encourge you;

The Holy Spirit has had to do, and continues to do a transforming work in your heart preparing the soil of your heart, thereby enabling you to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him, working in the garden of the world around you.

Now you sow precious seed, in the lives of your children, you generously fling precious seed in all directions, as you walk day by day in the calling God gave you. In short, you live out your life in obedience to what your Saviour requires and has asked of you. You do it diligently, faithfully, consistently, whatever the cost may be, for you understand that the day will come when there will be a harvest- fruit for your many labours.
I encourage you to go on, press on, continue on, in the sowing, planting, cultivating, weeding of the garden of your heart, and in the field God has given you. All that is done in faith, through love for Him, by grace He alone can give, will bear precious fruit" "good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over..."
To those who have done the planting of precious seed in season and out, sowing in tears,waiting in hope and expectation and have not yet been blessed with a bountiful harvest that they can see, Jesus promises that we will have a harvest; " they that sow in tears,shall reap in joy. He also bids us:"Blessed are those servants, who the Lord when He cometh shall find watching.... be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." He tells us to go on, press on, and continue on in faithful obedience, leaving the producing of the fruit and the harvest to Him.

I encourage us all, to continue to plant and sow with an eye to the day when we shall taste of the everlasting fruit;" Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life....(Rev 22:14)
What a glorious gathering of fruit that will be- to reap from the tree of life!!!!

Be transformed by the renewing of your minds.

Here is a quote that was very provoking to me as a young mother;
Being a product of the feminist movement, and having absorbed the thinking of the world in terms of what was important in life, I did not realize the extent to which my thinking ahd been molded by my culture, and where that thinking was taking me.
I thought that in order to really be something and to feel like I had accomplished something of importance, I needed to have a career, be involved in politics, change my world for good in some way,(get involved with Right To Life) manage my husband, and maybe have time for a few children, not knowing how they would fit into my busy schedule.

The following quote arrested me, and has never let me go.

"In woman and her life, are wrapped up some of the greatest interests and issues of humanity. Oh, if vigorous health, great virtues, a large heart, and capacious powers of mind are to be coveted for anything, it is that they may descend into our children, and reappear in them, to be a glory unto God in earth and heaven, and to adorn and bless themselves, us and the world."

We read in scripture that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. That is where the Holy Spirit does his tranforming work, which then is translated into how we live.

The above quote was used by the Holy Spirit to change my thinking, thereby diverting the direction of my life into "rivers of blessing".
